Apapa Customs records geometrical increases in revenue collections —— realises N65.4billion in April

” This is one of many changes and improvements the new Area Comptroller has put in place to achieve quicker cargo clearance and reduce cases of delays caused by unresolved disputes.
“He has deployed officers who are vast in information communication technology (ICT) to the compliance unit where all transactions are being monitored online.
” Some of the immense benefits of this is the tendency to block possible areas of revenue leakages, collect maximum revenue for the government, save port users’ time and fight smuggling under any guise.
“So far, all recent matters of Harmonised System (HS) Code or classification disagreements brought up have been resolved promptly and on time without escalation to headquarters.
“Evidence of what the Controller is doing is in revenue collection, seizures made as part of our anti-smuggling and total compliance drive, and faster clearance of cargoes from our port
” This command collects the highest revenue for the service and obviously has the highest volume of trade.
