Terrorists overrun Customs Post in Katsina
Isa Danbaba, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Katsina Command, confirmed the incident and stated that none of the 12 officers stationed in the position was harmed.
Danbaba stated that the Command received intelligence of the terrorists’ arrival, noting that operatives of the Command could not confront them due to their large number.
According to a source who spoke to the BBC Hausa Service, the terrorists moved to Zamfarawa and killed eight people.
In Walawa village, they also kidnapped an unknown number of women and children.
Zamfara and Katsina are two of the hotspots in terms of terrorist activities in Northwest Nigeria where thousands have been displaced and many others have continued to pay peace levy to the terrorists.
A Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, a nonprofit based in the United States, has estimated that no fewer than 5,000 people have been killed by terrorists in the sub-region in two years.
