Following the recent boat mishap on the Gbajibo River in Niger state which claimed the lives of many passengers, the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji has paid a condolence visit to the mourning community to console the people.
Delivering his speech, Oyebamiji advised boat operators and passengers in the area to adhere to NIWA Waterways transportation guidelines by always wearing life jackets while entering a boat.
He also did a practical demonstration on how to wear a life jacket and thereafter, he, on behalf of the Authority, donated life jackets to the Boat operators and promised NIWA’S presence in the community.
Meanwhile, the NIWA boss was conferred with the traditional title of  “Sodangi of  Gbajibo” by the traditional council.
