Shippers’ Council admits error in process leading to hike in terminal charges, promises to review the increase
He agreed that the council did not make a consultation with the relevant stakeholders, especially the Customs brokers in the process leading to the price hike.
“There were certain steps that were not proper; so we will review them immediately.
“I’ll make sure that we re-engage the process in a way that will meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders in the industry,” Jime said.
“I have personally discovered that our internal mechanism has not been properly implemented in order for us to arrive at the decision that we made.
Jime assured them that the Council would talk with the terminal operators immediately with a view to suspending the implementation of the increase and pending when all stakeholders would sit at a table and come out with an increase that will be agreeable to everyone”

Navy appoints new Maritime Guard Commander for NIMASA
Commodore Adoki, a principal Warfare Officer specializing in communication and intelligence, brings onboard 25 years experience in the Nigerian Navy covering training, staff and operations.
Welcoming the new MGC Commander to the Agency, the Director General, Dr Dayo Mobereola, expressed confidence in Adoki’s addition to the team, emphasising that it will further strengthen the nation’s maritime security architecture given his vast experience in the industry.
The Maritime Guard Command domiciled in NIMASA was established as part of the resolutions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Navy to assist NIMASA strengthen operational efficiency in Nigeria’s territorial waters, especially through enforcement of security, safety and other maritime regulations.
