I cherish MARAN award more than any award I have ever received—-Comptroller Malanta
–says award will spur command to greater performance
The Eyewitness reporter
The Area Controller of the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta Ibrahim, has expressed undisguised excitement over the conferment of an award of excellence on him by the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria(MARAN).
As part of its 34th years anniversary, MARAN, the oldest and foremost maritime media association in the country, has identified and celebrated some notable maritime stakeholders who have distinguished themselves in their areas of operations, among whom was Comptroller Yusuf.
The Customs Chief was conferred with the award of Revenue Mobiliser of the year in recognition of his command’s star performance in revenue generation since the CAC berthed at the Apapa command.

Receiving the award in his office Wednesday, Malanta, who was exhilarated at the honour, said he cherished the award much more than all the awards he has ever received because of his high regard for MARAN and what it stands for.
”I have received so many awards, but this is the award I will cherish more than any other award. This is because the award was not only from MARAN which I have tremendous respect for but from the closest people to me.
” I had planned and eagerly looked forward to being part of the ceremony who held at Ikeja last week but couldn’t make it because of my tight schedule.
”I have nothing else to say except to say thank you, MARAN for this great honour which I will hold close to my heart.
”May God be with all of us. Thank you for your support over the years to me, to the command, and the Service as a whole.”, an elated Customs chief said.
He promised not to rest on his oars and said the award will further spur him and his officers to do more in terms of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling activities which are the core mandates of the service.
”If we can successfully achieve the greater feat in revenue generation despite the pandemic and the economic crunch, I believe that next year will not pose much challenge to us.
”The CGC has been supportive of our efforts which have yielded tremendous results in terms of high revenue generation, trade facilitation and effective anti-smuggling activities of the command.
” I am happy to say that Apapa area command is the pride of the service and the nation in terms of revenue, anti-smuggling and trade facilitation” Comptroller Yusuf enthused.

Apapa Command, under the leadership of Comptroller Yusuf, has consistently posted five-star performances in revenue generation which is unprecedented in the history of the command.
The command has generated a sum of N790.630 billion from January to September 2022, while targeting a trillion naira revenue mark before the close of the year, a figure, if achieved, will be an unequalled feat that is unprecedented in the history of the service.
