Imo community in fears over spate of gruesome killings —–as another victim beheaded
Owolola Adebola
Residents of Orlu Local Government in Imo state are now living in morbid fears of incessant gruesome killings in the area.
The latest of such killings happened in the early hours of Thursday when the unidentified person was beheaded by a yet to be identified murderer who displayed the victim’s head at Orie Okporo market Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Competent police sources, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, confirmed the incident.
“The victims were actually being beheaded in Okopro Community, starting from Tuesday this week” the police source disclosed.
Some of the sources from Orlu, who spoke to our correspondent on the beheading of residents, have continued to link the activities to criminal elements and diabolical gangs operating freely in the area, especially at night.
An independent source from the Okporo community said: “The head of this person was taken to the Orie Okporo market and dumped there.
” We were shocked, wondering in amazement what the killers stand to achieve.”
“You will remember Okporo market, is where the heads of the two other persons killed on Tuesday were dropped and we don’t know what next again.
” We beg them to stop this kind of killing. Orlu is known for peace,” He said.
Commenting on the matter, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mike Abatam , said: “We have heard of it and we are gathering the necessary information after which we will make an official statement.”
