WCO reelects Al Khalifa as president in exceptional case
The WCO system allows for the election of the President of the Council of the World Customs Organization for a term of one year, in addition to the possibility of re-election for a second term of one year.
The member states of the Council of the World Customs Organization ratified the re-election of Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa in recognition of his effective management during the pandemic, which enabled the Brussels-based organization to continue its work without disrupting its projects and programmes.
In a statement on this occasion, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended his sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
